Why I am switching to a Kickstarter Business Model

Here's the thing- I'm not what you would call "Good at business". I have the ideas and the drive, but the business savvy-ness has been a bit of a stretch😅

2024 - not gonna lie, was a tough year. The first half felt incredible—a whirlwind of success that gave me the financial freedom to dive headfirst into creating. And create I did. I poured my heart (and money) into projects, driven by my excitement for new ideas. But in doing so, I lost sight of a relatively important part of business: creating things people actually want to buy.

I had to learn the hard way that investing thousands into something you didn't do market research on (looking at you, Cypher System 👀) wasn’t the smartest move. And as it turns out, money has this funny habit of running out faster than you expect. Consider it a lesson learned, albeit an expensive one.

This is where Kickstarter comes in- I truly believe it’s a win-win model for everyone involved. It allows me to stay true to my creative roots while also respecting the realities of the market. It gives me the freedom to test the waters with my super great, amazing ideas, without overcommitting financially. If you love them, you can back them at a lower-than-retail price. If not, well, that’s your chance to gently (or not-so-gently) tell me, “Hey, this is not on".

All in all, we can collaborate together to bring ideas to life (or, occasionally, to let them rest in peace🪦). So, here’s to 2025: a year of smarter choices, better balance, and, hopefully, projects that excite us both!
